Hey everyone,
I'm looking for a small aluminum boat or jon boat to buy to ride behind. Just wondering for those of you who do ride behind these, how small of an engine/ boat can you go and still ride?
I've seen people ride with 25hp's on small aluminum boats, but I've heard about people going as small as a 15hp.
Any insight would be much appreciated.
Thanks! |

It also on how you get up. The way you work your legs and the angle of the board. Im a big guy at 175-180 and i've gotten up behind some low HP motors on small craft. Staying crouched down as tight as you can with the board at the right angle makes all the difference.
But didnt parky ride behind some ridiculously small Zodiac ? Granted the kid was like a popscicle stick, but still. _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray |

Yeah he did, I don't remember the engine size on it though.
I've gotten up behind a 14ft jon boat w/ a 15 on it...but I was like ~140lbs
I think 35-40 would be min hp required @ 175 |

| I used to have a 14ft skiff with a 15 that could barely pull me up with one person in the boat at 150 lbs. I would do a 16 ft skiff with a 40 or so |

| crispy, well that is true, i didnt think about having more people on the boat. My 40 is sluggish when i just riding with 1 other person because there is no weight in the front of the boat so it takes much longer for it to get on plane. |
