nopulseimpulse, I wish rallye was as big here, as it is everywhere else in the world.
But that noise isn't coming from the wastegate. Its from the lack of a blow-off valve and/or anti-lag.
Wastegate chatter myth
There is confusion in the automotive world about so called "wastegate chatter" or "turbo flutter". A noise created on lifting off the throttle in a turbocharged car, commonly described as a chipmunk or a rattlesnake, is often stated incorrectly as being a result of the turbo's wastegate closing.
The noise is in fact the air compressed by the turbo passing back through the compressor wheel of the turbo after the airflow is abruptly halted by the throttle plate closing, called compressor surge.

Ken didn't really have a choice, Subaru doesn't build a current spec WRC car. Monster basically had to choose between Ford or Citroen. I can't wait to see him get his ass completely handed to him in WRC. I would be majorly surprised to see him land a top 6 finish all season. _________________ The aforementioned postings and musings are the opinions of myself in their entirety and are not the opinions of wakeskating.com
