So 3rd time out and I'm getting up consistently now, I can carve across the wake back and forth and I don't fall when I hit a little wake. Now what? I tried turning the board sideways last night and even tried spinning around to switch. I got all the way around and then lost my balance. But what should I be working on?
Should I be working on ollies first, carving into the wake harder and faster or figuring out how to rotate to switch and get comfortable riding that? |

just get as comfortable on your board as you can.. it will help tremendously in the long run... _________________ NORML.org

The more water time the better! Just go have fun and if you start to ollie that's great! If I could go back 8 years and start over I would learn to ride switch better.
Next time out try a lipslide on the wake! _________________ Obscura Wakeskates! |

get as comfortable as you can on your board; learn how it reacts in every situation on the water. once you have solid board control everything else will come much easier to you. once you want to start learning tricks, a nice popped and level ollie is the foundation for pretty much everything. make sure youre flattened out, your shoulders are square with the board, and your chest stays over your feet and you'll be poppin ollies in no time. most importantly: HAVE FUN |

Try some ollies.. throw a small buoy out into the water and anchor it with a cinder block. Cut out toward it, flatten off and bam. I think if you have something to focus on it makes things a little easier. Good luck! _________________ ------------------------------------------------------

Brett Leadley, the highest ollies i have popped were because i was flying towards a giant buoy and had to make it happen _________________ if theres no future in it, at least theres a present worth remembering.

Sweet. I'll just continue to get more control on the board. We found a sweet little spot on the Appomattox River last night. 2 hour after work sessions are gonna be common, it's like 5 minutes from the house and smooth as glass. No one was out there...
It's insane how shifting your feet on the board in just the littlest increments makes such a huge difference. Skateboarding isn't quite like that. |

Getting better! I can switch my stance to switch now and ride across the wakes like so. Also got the wife uP this weekend. She don't stay up for long but she was up.
Gotta start working on those ollies and shuvs now. I took a hard fall tho. Landed on my face/chest and my legs snapped to my head for the good ol' hyperextension of the back so that had me scared for a bit! But I'm loving it. My oak's crack is getting bigger not sure how long it's gonna last... |

Like Brett Leadley, said, put something in the water to trick over. It really helps. |
