I had an 08 SST, and loved it until the wood deck split on me. Then I tried to fix it with epoxy and fiberglass here http://www.wakeskating.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=499097&highlight=#499097

The repair held up for a while, but now my wood deck is starting to crack in the same spot. It's just a matter of time before it is destroyed again.

What do you guys think are the pros and cons of the SST vs the Impulse?

I had a 09 Impulse 42'' (I think is the same as the 2010). I haven't tried many boards so I can't compare it but the impulse in my opinion is a good board, a little bit heavy in my opinion and not so fast response. Good for wake 2 wake and very stable, it's very thick actually. Haven't tried the sst but I think is better the sst.

I have tried both boards and favor the new 2010 Impulse. The SST was a great board, but the bi-level thing just wasn't for me. The 2010 Impulse, from what I have heard, is completley different from the previuos years. Danny told me how the concave is different, the flat spot is larger, and the ends are more square and not rounded. I love this board, it has so much pop. The only downside is that the new Impulses are not durable. But, if you go get some sealant at a hardware store and seal the boad up, she should be fine. The board is amazing, and is definitley my board of choice.

That's an important point, seal the board, the 09 needed to be sealed too, sounds great the 2010 impulse

why does everyone insist on resealing a brand new board? if i spend my money on something i expect it to be rideable out the box. i unfortunately bought an impulse (the 08 model i think) and didnt reseal it and of course it water logged after some sessions and the grip came off after 2 rides. there are plenty of other board companies out there that ACTUALLY CARE about the products they put out. sorry for the rant Very Happy

If you buy a LF you HAVE to reseal. The question should be how is LF still in business? I remember when it was a brand new company, a friend of mine worked a board shop and said they had so many defects he didn't think they would be around much longer. The legacy continues...

I have a bunch of LF impuses and SSTs from 2007-2010 (2-3 per year plus a few more)

I love them all...If I were to buy one I would buy the 2010 40.5 SST because it is symmetrical and they reinforced the inserts so they don't pull out.
The 2010 Impulse has a great shape but isn't holding up as well as I would like because of the lock in fin holes...if you fill them with RVT silicone it would be fine.

If you loved your 08 get a 2010 SST. Its going to ride the same and hold up well.
If you want an Impulse, get one...just remember that any skate made of wood will delam over time...wood and water don't mix ... that's common sense...

If you buy it new you get a warranty and they are good about it.

I hope this helps you.

liquid came close to going out of business a few years ago. if you watch the video he says danny's board is symetric. from what i understood from a video w/ a. reed and danny is that danny's are a-sym and reeds are sym.

slothboy420, Thanks for clearing that up. Just lame how LF has contradicting information on their site b\c that could persuade a good number of people to buy or not buy that skate due to the a-sym or sym shape.

It's like 10.5/11 lbs. They are all a bit different.
