First of all, Hi, I am new to the forums and looking to get into the sport of wakeskating, over maybe the past 1-2 weeks I've been doing some reading on wakeskating and am going to order a skate and some shoes offline, since theres really no option for me to go to a store a physically touch one.
Recently I've been looking for a board around the $100-$200 price range and have seen a 2008 Liquid Force 40.5 SST for $150 New, I was wondering your guys personal opinion on this. From what I have read some people are against the Bi-Levels with 2 decks because its more difficult to do flip tricks, please forgive me if I am wrong. Since I would be riding behind a SeaDoo thats what I would mainly be trying to do since Wake2Wake tricks are out of the question. I am looking for a skate thats more like a skateboard feel, with grip tape and all. So any reccomendations for me if you don't feel I should get the SST would be nice,
Thanks. |

well first of all welcome to ws.com
that board is a great learners board and you will be able to do just as much on that board as any board. i was riding a concave. but recently started riding a 40 inch horrell bi level and i love it. to each his own..my boy just got the same board and was riding a gator concave before that one but loves the sst now. have fun with it. |

My experience with that board isnt too great. Really heavy, hard to get around on any trick, and there is absolutely no concave to work with. I would suggest a regular concave deck. Soo many options out there, but whatever you think you would like the best, go for it. |

I personally would start out with a wood concave. The SST is a great board and since its your first you will be fine with that, but it may be easier for you on a concave. The catalyst and the Byerly i personally dont like to me that catalyst is just to big and kinda an awkward shape, and the concave on the byerly is a little to much for me. as for the 40" walton, I started out on an 07 lf hampson 41" and it was great and lasted a while before breaking. I have heard that a lot of those do break really easily though. If you can check here in the classified and try to find yourself a used Oak or New. Both are really solid wood concaves and great first boards. Or you can go with the SST. What ever you get your going to love and get used to riding it since its your first board. |
