we went out winching sunday at the local park, and the water level in the river was down. some spots of the river were only a foot deep. On my second pass i tried a 3 shuv and missed the landing. I landed in a foot of water and slammed into a rock with my lower back at about 20mph. Now my back is black and blue and i can hardly stand.
Just wondering how much water you usally winch in?
and if any one has had the same thing happen when winching shallow water?

rfmcrx, ohh mayne that sucks! that's always kinda in the back of my mind when winching/ditch skating especially now since its spring. The best thing to do before winching is walk through the area and make sure there isn't any rocks or sharp objects in your path. Yes it blows to do that, but since hearing some horror stories of people winching and falling on rebar, and other unknown lurching water monsters, id rather take the cold 10 min walk thru. Hope you heal up quick, its skatin season.

the river is usally 4-5 feet deep, and in the spring it floods out the park beside it.
But this year our water levels are real low.

i have rode through stuff that was paper thin, but really a few inches, and did not do any tricks.

rfmcrx, That sucks man, i have fallen a bunch on my wrists and now they both click when i rotate them.
The water at my place on sandy lake in buckhorn has seen the most water i have seen in a while. I guess its still early to open all those dams through the Trent.

Scotty B, Our lakes hold all the water for the trent. 12mile lake were we ride in minden has lots of water. Just the river that flows through town is low.
Last year at this time we had an incline rail setup in the park beside the swing set.
Lol we used to cottage on sandy lake when i was young, wish we were still on that lake.

I'm scared to ride in anything deeper than 4 ft... Waist deep is the epitome of my comfort zone.

I've never ridden in anything where I could touch my feet... It seems too shallow to me.

I dont mind shallower water aslong as its mostly sand. the rail we had was on grass in the park in 2ft of water, if you bailed you would slide along the grass bottom.

I winched in a cranberry bog near me a few times. Waist deep water with cranberry trees really softening the falls. So if your Ocean Spray ever tastes like DVS's, sorry!!
