iphone wont power on

I jailbroke my phone and it has worked fine except for a lil slow, but today I realized I couldn't post on updates from facebook. So I deleted it and then tryed to download it from the app store tonight, but it said already installed even though I deleted it, so I thought I would shut it down and restart the phone.
Now the phone wont power up fully the apple comes on but only for three or four seconds then it goes blank I can shut it off while the apple is lit but nothing else.
I tried hooking it up to itunes to see if I could just restore it but my laptop wont recognize it, during the short time the apple sign comes on.
I cant take it to an att store because it is jail broke right?

I read that sometimes jailbreaking it could brick your phone. That's why i never did it

mines jailbroke and i have no problems. have you tried holding the home key and the button on the top at the same time until the phone restarts?

hmm, i've had mine not turn on and i just did the reset and it fixed it, but it was not jail broken. on the bright side, if you're eligible for an upgrade you can get a refurb 3gs for 99$

pretty sure if you unlock an iphone they wont warranty it but if you just jailbroke it it's cool. take it to the apple store.

My friend walked into the apple store because his screen was cracked. When the dude seen it was jailbroke he handed him back the phone and asked him to leave. He went home restored it went back and they fixed it for him. Apple is not cool with jailbreaking phones.
