I'm guessing they will be using the seadoo again. Where in Dallas are you? Im in Highland Park which is like 10 minutes outside of the city.

seadoo is the fo shizzle.... there are alot of falls in the skate divison and the seadoo can pick up alot of riders... and alot of riders are liptrick orriented riders and also it shows the you dont need a 50000 $ boat you just need a seadoo or a zodiac

EvanPark, i understand that you dont need a boat, but as for the pro tour i think it is important that the riders show they are well rounded adcan do as many w2w tricks as other tricks

This is a tricky subject. Personally, I'd just assume that there shouldn't be one standard towing jobby, ie having a boat for every single event. I think it's cool to have a seadoo for one event, a boat for another, and then scott's deal that basically included everything, etc, etc.

At this point in time (and this includes wakeboarding) I think that videos are the place to showcase one's "well rounded" riding tallents. Wakeskating seems too inconsistent for everyone to throw out their hardest tricks, and there are wakeboarding dudes that sandbag their asses off (you know who I'm talking about). I just like the idea of showcasing wakeskating differently, instead of wakeboarders proclaiming that boats should be the preferred towboat of choice when they don't even wakeskate in the comp (I'm referring to a specific article, by the way).

I don't even know if this is all making sense, but by having some comps with a seadoo and some with a huge boat, it can still show kids/people that you don't necessarily need a wakeboarding boat to wakeskate. And what's better (in my mind) is if you can hang as a rider in the seadoo events AND the boat events.

So that's that. I AM a waterdancer!!

k in my opinion keep in mind this is a pro tour right so you want to see something PROFESSIONALLY done. haha i hope thats spelt right. okay anyways what mean by professionally done is a pro needs to be good and well rounded in all areas of a sport. Wakeskating has several aspects to it, wake to wake, lip trick, flats and rails. On a see do your basically getting lip trick (wich seems easier to do things on than a boat) and you get rails. You can argue you get the flats to but common there is really no wake so you dont get the flats cause the whole thing is the flats. Basically to compete in the pro tour you only need to be good in 2 things wich essentially makes you half a pro. If you add in more aspects to the sport the level will be risen on what standard tricks are and progression will keep going from all aspects. A professional event need to shocase professional riders, not riders that can only do well in a couple aspects of the sport. If you looked at the tour last year all you had to be able to land was the long flat bar a bigspin and attempt a kickflip and you basically were walking away with 1000 bucks. I bet half the people on here could probably do that so why should we make things easier and slow down the progression when we can add different variety and expand the riding possibilities?

i like to compare it to skateboarding in my mind people who are good w2w are in a way like skate-vert riders, and behind a jet ski its more street skating, I think we should have contest with 2 div, w2w and flatland, but then again im a idiot. But to answer the main question here, im going riding with brian francis today and the boat they use on the pwt is his boat he drives it to every event and all that jazz. so ill ask him whats up.

It's funny though, you look at the contest results and there weren't any half-assed joe-schmoe's walking away with 1000.00 bucks at the pro tour events...

And I was thinking about this, and I wouldn't even go so far as to say that wake to wake is like vert. On a different level, it's more like transition skating--like how freaking alex chalmers kills it at those canadian concrete parks. It's crazy...he skates like a snowboarder.

Why exactly would a contest behind a seadoo kill wakeskating? Whether people want to face it or not, there ARE different aspects to wakeskating. And again, the beauty is that you don't need a freaking 70,000 x-star and a gas card to kill it. If anything, pushing out the seadoo aspect could stagnate the art because then there are kids that might not be able to get into it that may have at one point or another (behind a friend's seadoo or crappy boat) (and I like to kill cliches, so we shan't forget daniel lovett and derek "seaworthy" seaman). And seriously, wakeskating isn't all about wake to wake riding. Asterisk didn't have any wake to wake stuff (yet some how they managed to put together a cool vid), and off of the top of my head, I cant think of a ton of wake to wake stuff that was in sfumato. The point is that there are a ton of different tricks that can be done on a wakeskate, and not all are dependent on a moderate to large wake.

However, to accomodate the seadoo portion, I'd actually like to see a few more rails or water obstacles (buoys for ollieing, etc). Then get some noseslides into the mix, more flip tricks, etc. And surface pirouettes...
