I have been filming once a week tracking both my son and my own wakeskate progress (we've been riding for about a month). We don't have a video this week but I hit my first shuv on a rail box yesterday so I'm posting a 5 second clip of that. Pay attention to how my feet land. I was happy to pull it.

props for even going for a shuv if you have only been riding for a month. can you land a backside shuv on the water? _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

I've hit three in flat water, one off the box and one on the box. My son has been riding as long as me and he's already hit a dozen of shuv-its a 3-shuv in the flats and off the box and a couple big spins (the kind where the board only spins a 180.) He is also doing 180 shuvs on the box and then off the box. I know that I should not compare my progression to a teenager but I feel that every day we ride the gap between our skill level gets bigger and bigger. Not to worry, I am having a ton of fun riding. _________________ Juggling while wakeskating.

juggler, thats awesome that you ride with your son! definitely don't compare your progression to his. progression is much more than just landing tricks. its also about dialing in your style and personalizing what you know. next time you ride, work on 1 of your easier tricks (ollie, fs 180)...try to improve on something small even if its just sucking up your back leg alittle more on your ollie. everything will build apon each other and make you a more well rounded rider _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

Thanks for the advice, I pretty much did that today, I did some basic stuff, did ollie 180s a couple dozen of them, so that I would have one trick that is dialed in in the flats, and I worked on doing flat water 360s because I was having trouble figuring out the handle pass. But then I got board because those were going well and started working on flat water shuv-its I only pulled one out of about 8 attempts. But I was just happy to pull one before I had to go home. _________________ Juggling while wakeskating.
