I'm moving across the country and getting rid of my current huge 1973 (22') ski boat and I'm kind of thinking of getting a little tiny boat for wakeskate pulls. It seems lik I've seen a lot of people in videos and mags getting pulled behind a 12' or 14' boat with a little 25HP outboard. Is that really possible? I'm 180 but one of my wakeskating buddies is 205. Will he be able to get up? It just seems like a little boat might actually be nice - easy to drag around, the only thing that breaks is the outboard, etc... What do you guys think?
This looks kind of likely...

nah, it seems like a good idea until i try to get my girl to give me a tow and she doesn't want to get wet. definitely need a boat. So do i need a flat bottom boat for a "lemonscraft"? does a v-hull drag too much? _________________

we have a 16' lund fishing boat with a 25hp outboard. our regular boat was down for a few weeks this summer so we were pulling with the lund. it worked but not very well. it was quite a chore to get up. after a while we got better at getting out of the water, but it wouldn't be a permanent solution in my book. we were pulling 150 - 170 lb people with only two people in the boat. it took a good 30 seconds to a minute of effort to get on top of the water. it was so much effort to get up we didn't want to work on new tricks because if you fall you have to get pulled up again! if there were any more people in the boat it wouldn't even go fast enough for a decent pull. i think if it had a 40hp on it, it would have been perfect. hope that helps _________________ Shredding the Sea of Waubesa |
