dude you're annoying. do not get a bi level. order yourself the cheapest skate in the size you want. for you i would say get a NEW, or if you want to spend more money get an oak.end of story. don't ask again. _________________ "I said take me to the sea, cause that is where I want to be. The wakeskate that is best is inexistent.
It all comes down to preference. Sense your coming from a flat deck a bi-level would be quite the change. Bi-levels are said to be more predictable than concaves. And with my experience with the ones Iv'e ridden it seems to be true. However they also have the tendency to break a lot, especially when you start trying flip tricks more often.
I'd say go with the concave but maybe in a 40in. instead of a 38. It would be an easy transition from a flat deck. And would be a solid board that should last quite some time.
Hope that helps. |

as a beginner, a longer board will give him a little bit more room for error as he's learning... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

electricsnow, thats the same reason I said 40 instead of 38.
wakemitch, I think a 40 would be perfect for him. sense he wants a shorter board and is just getting into it. smaller boards are harder to stick landings especially when learning new tricks. Ask most riders and they will most likely say they moved to smaller boards after riding longer ones. But this is all my opinion. Good vibes. |

David_Roehm, i think most people start out on larger boards because they are misinformed as well as smaller boards were not available before |

jwise, Dood just go to your local board shop if you have one, and demo 3-4 skates. And figure out which size/shape you like.
Usually you can put the cost of the demo towards the one you want to buy. _________________ El Tiburón Rojo |

Reasonably short wakeskates have been around for quite some time, just not with every brand. Cassette started producing a 40 inch skate in 2001 and other companies kept the trend going (like liquid force and some of the smaller companies). Plus, kampus had the k-series wakeskates and a 38 in their line for awhile there as well (the wahlman).
I don't know why people end up getting boards that are too long...hyperlite is really the main brand that would mess people up like that because everything is long. One other reason I can think of is people crossing over with wakeboarding knowledge and trying to apply that to their wakeskate purchases.
That said, I still wouldn't put him on a 38. Lots of experienced riders even say that boards like the TNT leave little room for error. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
