does anyone prefer one brand over another as far as quality? is it worth spending $40-$50 to get a nice one compared to $15 off of e-bay? is there a big difference? thanks guys............. Cool

check the lbs it can support. if you buy a really cheap crappy one it may break

as far as I know the ones on northern tool are identical to the cheap ones on ebay. I have the one from ebay, and its working great after a couple of years.

I got a cheap one from ebay and the construction seems really solid. I've only used my winch a handfull of times so far but there is no visible signs of it being weak at all.
