will this rope suffice? 1/4" says 1250 breaking strength. if anyone knows of anything better or any cheaper for 1000 ft. let me know. I am looking for a cheap alternative. I do mostly pond winching so sand, gravel, etc. eating through my line is not a problem. This way I could afford 2000 ft of this instead of 600 feet of amsteel 7/64. 1/4 may be too large. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

if i were you i'd just get 600 feet of amsteel, we were riding with our rope all the way out at 500 feet yesterday and that's ridiculously long. i can't see anyone truely needing anymore than 600 feet
that rope looks like it would fray, but i guess i have no real knowledge in ropes to confirm that _________________ http://www.stickandflick.com

Thanks. Yeah I really don't want or need more than about 600 feet. I would never use it. What my thinking was that I could keep an extra spool of 600 ft lying around in case it did decide to break or fray and I would have extra on hand. If the amsteel decides to break i will be out of winching til i get the money to order more and wait For it to arrive. And it would still be cheaper than the 600 ft of amsteel for 1200 of this. Is amsteel really that much worth it when not winching in rough rocky conditions? I know it is a personal preference but I do appreciate all advice. _________________ www.backyardrailpark.com |

overstreet31, i dont know a whole lot about the strength of amsteel because i've only ridden with it for a day, but i think that rope would work, just as long as its not too thick
what kind of fair lead/rope guide do you have? _________________ http://www.stickandflick.com

I will be having a normal 4 roller square/rectangular winch fairlead roller. No Eye-bolts or anything that may fray the rope or something. Just the same fairlead that is on a 4X4 winch. I wouldn't think this would eat into the rope too much. I just can't see me really needed something as strong and expensive as amsteel for smooth riding with no rocks or rubbing going on. Thanks dancer! Also, do you have any idea the difference between a TAV and TAV2. or if they are interchangeable? Why would you choose one and not the other? _________________ www.backyardrailpark.com |

| Gnarly Dancer 42, Do you have any problems with the centrifugal clutch? and what size is your motor? I'm in the process of building and have heard that torque converter system is the way to go. |

that rope will sag and be to heavy plus 600 feet is way more than enough. _________________ "Confucius say, man who stand on toilet high on pot" |

tic tac SRH, i dont have any problems with it, we've got a 6.5 hp
i'm sure torq converters are way better, but we didnt want to spend 200 bucks when we knew we could still ride if we just bought a $30 clutch _________________ http://www.stickandflick.com
