we just bought this motor today:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=66015

and now we're looking at centrifugal clutches to buy and we are wondering if there's a difference in them at all. otherwise, we'll just buy the cheapest one which is this one:

we're making a spool from cutting discs, and we need to put a hub on it to connect it to the axle.

what hub should we use? would this be a good choice?

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_35760_35760

also, do people use two hubs or one when connecting the axle to the spool?

thanks Cool

i used two hubs on my spools but on my second spool is used two hubs and lined up the keyways before i drilled holes. the first spool i was getting a lot of twist on the side of the spool that wasn't locked into the axle keyway.
some sprokets take different sized hubs, check what you ordered. i ended up using all 5 1/4" hubs and split sprockets, but you can get the sprockets that fit that hub...

cool frame. i think those bolts in your fairlead are going to cut through your rope pretty easily. coat them with some gorilla tape or something.

416, we got two hubs, but one was the wrong size for the spool, so we're sending that back after we get the new one for the spool

and we're using the one we already bought for the sprocket

ok so today we got the rest of the parts in....

we put everything together and tried to test it on a skateboard with only about 30 feet of knotted wakeboard rope. i lost control of the throttle and the knots caught and almost totally destroyed our fairlead Mad

then we bought new rope and i tried riding behind it in the water,

and the good news is that i deep water started without any problems, but the bad news is that our spool is totally destroyed Confused Mad Sad and the chain was barley hanging on about to fall off when we stopped it

looks like we're buying a spool....... and we need to figure out a better fairlead any ideas??

Ya I'd be careful of that whole not stopping the winch in time thing too...
I've seen some dee da dees completely forget to stop it, and as a result:
swollen arms and hands from flying handles.
