winch is bogging way way down - gearing or engine????

hey everyone,

just built my first winch. we tried it on skateboards and everything went fine, but with a wakeskate it can't get people all the way out of the water. it seems like we are just stuck at 8 mph. I can't tell if the engine is bogging down or the tav2 is putting too much load on the engine.

it has a 9HP GX270 honda with a TAV2 (12 tooth) and a 54 tooth sprocket on an 8" inch ID spool. oh - 600' of bullet line. it sounds like the engine is not getting enough gas, but the tav may just be putting too much load on it...

what do you guys think??

Mine use to do this and i fixed it by a smaller sprocket.

turns out one of the springs on the throttle assembly was goofed up and i was only getting up to half throttle - a little more gas makes a world of difference... lol
