anybody ever use plywood? not the cheap home depot grade but a peice of 3/4 birch plywood. i was gonna make 2 14 inch circles and drill holes for a hub and use rods and conduit. will it work?
Also.. anybody use a U bolt for a fairlead?
winch is going down over spring break. i cant wait |

I had a wood spool for a year now and it never broke it worked great!! I just made a new aluminum one last weeknd though so i no longer have the wood one. If you want to see pix of it look for the Hillbilly Winch on myspace. And the pix in my sig that is the wood spool! _________________

Probably not a big deal but since the line will get water on it...you might want to varnish or seal the wood in some way...otherwise it might warp or rot in the long run from the water exposure. |

Mine was spray painted and held up fine for every weeknd for a year. It was 3/4 wood _________________
