I know all of you guys rock the D80 or better, but I'm looking for something more entry level. Does anyone have one that they are looking to sell.
I thought that I had one on craigslist for $300, but I wasn't quick enough.
Any other suggestions for an entry slr? _________________ f*** you if you can't take a joke

I have a D40. I'm no photographer but it's a lot of camera. _________________ The promise of heaven out of reach.

Dont get a d40. If you're trying to get into photography, canon offers a MUCH nicer entry level line.
The d40 requires the autofocus motor to be inside the lens vs inside the body thus making lenses more expensive.
I'd reccomend a canon XT($250 refurb'd on adorama) and chose your lens. |

Get an old school film SLR camera
Way easier and more fun to shoot with than any DSLR _________________ http://www.wakeskateclips.com/ |

you could get a D70, it is an older DSLR and what I learned on. I love my D70. It has the motor in the camera that will make all lenses compatible. I would offer mine up my wifey uses it now that I have upgraded. I got mine from a buddy with the kit lens for like $250. Also, as Lollar said, go film and learn the basics, if you want to move to digital then you will probably already have lenses to use and will just need a body. |

frankycouplepuphs, The D40 is a great little camera, check out B & H Photo they have great deals on cameras. But if you can I would save up a little more and get a D90 (I think thats the best camera out for the money, but I am a Nikon man). Anyways if you get the D40 it will not take long before you grow out of it and wish yo would have just gotton a D90. Just my two cents. |

Thanks for the advice guys. Ive found a used d40 w/lens and used d50 w/ lens for $325 each. The d50 has the motor in the body, but its older than the d40. Anyway, I'll probably end up with one those. _________________ f*** you if you can't take a joke |
