Asterisk is good but I think sfumato is the best. Retrospect has some solid skating in it with some old school stuff.

sfumato is a much better movie as long as you turn the volume down or play a cd while watching, the sound track is absolutly horrible Astrisk may be too short but the sound trac is quite a bit better, i think

Astrisk was unreal first off.... but i was disappointed because, of course, they didn't have any wake2wake stuff. Sfumato i am yet to see but i have heard both the good and the bad about that vid. but its def on the list. Retrospect, although super long to sit through if you HATE wakeboarding, had some unreal skating. One of the coolest things is Horrel's wake2wake frontside shuv to indy. WHAT!!!!! sooo sick. Relentless on the other hand had some great stuff but once again more wakeboarding.

ps- Justin Stephens is the man

I liked them all. Even the small wakeskate sections in Nature Born THrillaz was good.

Astrick was a bit too short though.
Sfumato changed everything and enlarged the amount of ppl that have taken an interest in wakeskating.

seriously, the faint and the postal service songs on there are really good. even though it is kind of old now it is still the best out to date.

i must agree with everyone and add a little on...the additional footage will blow your mind, Grubb's Pool Gap, which accounts for nearly the same running time as the main movie. who ever said you need to turn the volume down is probably the same guy who rocks out Sum 41 and Good Charlotte. incase you didn't notice there is an alternate soundtrack but i'd stick with the main one. Snap is also great with its extras.
All of these movies have something else to offer, so i'd say its a three way tie.

Justin Stephens should have shoot/edited the Sfumato movie!!

I think Sfumato has the best variety of tricks and scenery but I don't like they way it is edited (colors/music etc.).

Asterisk is very well edited (nice sound/feel/colors), everything comes together, but is getting bored after awhile because it's too short and there's the same scenery all the time. I don't like movies where everone is sliding the same rail in every section.

I liked the wakeskating section in Metronome!!

The riding in Sfumato was fantastic, but the editing seemed so frenetic. Even though i know it was made by by the aptly named attention deficit crew, it was pretty annoying... you almost had to watch it in slow motion. Asterisk is a bit more my pace. However, what I didn't like about Asterisk was some of the camera shots were pretty crappy. Could Grubb's sex change have been any farther away? Anyway, I'm just being nitpicky. Both are great.

first off Sfumato was sick. Asterisk was sick. I do want to say one thing refering to the comment about grubbs sex change being so far away and that is this: Sometimes sh*t goes down at the wrong times and I bet it you ask any film maker from any sport there are times when they totally missed a shot of something sick for whatever reason(changing film, etc.) or they managed barely get ready or were standing in one spot filming a rail and weren't expecting a sex change at the other end of the lake.

It's ok to be nit picky, just be picky about the right things. not one shot that you don't know the circumstances that surround it.

I think Sfumato was sick.It was good to see some new scenery in there.I really get tired of all the wakeboard movies and the same lakes over and over again. It get's really old.And the music even if it was a bit to be desired, at least, was different.I think both Linear Perspective[which I thought had a great underground edge feel to it] and Sfumato are a fresh change in the wake vid world[I've probably watched these 2 vids twice as much as all my other wake vids combined]
As for Asterisk I can't comment, haven't seen it.
