building skate...few questions

hey guys I'm building my first skate out of 5 1/8" birch plys and I an thinking of using pl premium as a glue . I was wondering if varathane outdoor would work as a sealant? Anyone have any good suggestions? Also what is a good height for kicktails/rails?[/list]
