very, very sick wakeskate film! I remember at first I was like, Eh, but the more I watched it, the more I loved it. I guess to actually process that all of that riding went down in a short period of time is part of what made it stick for me. And when you look at the "almost" moves...that film would have been even crazier had some of that stuff gone down! Plus aaron's backside flip attempts were really amazing, like flicked and what not.

But yeah, thomas, danny and aaron have classic sections, for sure. Plus, this was the first wakeskate specific film that wasn't a "team" film. So there's some pretty significant history tied to it!

I love that this thread was just started because I literally JUST put asterisk in my dvd player to watch it this evening. Cool

I know its pretty much cliche' at this point, but the back to back kickflips were it. Thomas really brings a skating feel to his riding, and I really associate with that.
I've really dig the the whole feel of the video also.

Oh and that rail is insane Shocked

wasn't SNAP the first wakeskate specific film that wasn't a "team" film, starring:
- the Cassette team
- the HL team (Byerly & Grubb)
- 6 other sponsors

yes, BUT "SNAP" was more of an instructional video (and still one of the best, imo, although it's out dated now), where "Asterisk" was more about getting the best wakeskaters at the together to ride, progress, and have fun. so there is a difference there, but you're right in the sense that it was the first wakeskate-specific video that wasn't team related.

*Asterisk is still one of my favorite videos, i just love the vibes it has.

Yes, ollishuvitz understood where I was coming from--I'm talking about freeriding films. Snap is an instructional so I wouldn't consider it the same way. But since we're on the subject of snap, there are some sick bonus sections in that film. Cool And I think part of it might be the time period, but I still like to watch parts of that dvd just for fun...it's super weird but I dig it anyway. Embarassed

RUSSIAN, I like where your head's at, and i totally agree! At the time, those back to back kickflips seemed like some sort of benchmark..."consistency" was different back then so to have thomas land those kickflips seemed insane, and it also seemed like something only he could do. Like, thomas lands the first kickflip on a wakeskate, of course he's going to hit them up back to back!

it was so groundbreaking at the time.....from the pool gap to the land gap........from danny's front big off the rail to his closer over the box. first ever sex change ts what! ........ BT's coming out.......to the last ever daniel lovett sighting. the almost kickies off the rail by drew to the silenced bs flip attempts by reed that we're mind blowing. snow ....the bonus is fo sho a bonus in this flick......windy day at lake meade represent...damn did danny and reed make a windy day look amazing.

oh and who could forget scotty B setting the tone Cool

justin stephens is a magician.
