If your using it on the beach it might help to use bigger/thicker wheels so it doesnt sink into the loose sand.

LFARMADA: yea its all aluminum. i havent weighed it yet. ill let you know though. its about 2 ft. wide or so.

SULLYJ11: these were the biggest/widest i could fine. in the pics they look a bit narrow but in actuality there not. i think they will work out. i havent gotten it out of the shop yet. still waiting on one bolt for the front assembly to be made. ill give updates later............

well i got it out to test sunday. learned several things.
1) dont buy cheap rope ( it popped both times)
2) PATIENCE (with the wife, it was only us)
3) grip tape is still rough after all these years

first attempted she didnt take up the slack before gunning it. bout ripped my arm out of the socket cause i tried to hang on so the rope wouldnt get so far away. dragging me across the board giving me a nice grip tape burn. then it popped. re-tied it to try again. just about got up then it popped again.

NOTE TO SELF: dont buy cheap rope.
everything else worked fine. the 9.0 honda with tav has PLENTY of torque.

key, don't get bulletlines and i'd imagine any other plastic coated rope unless you enjoy peeling off all 600' of the coating by hand.

yea,..i read somewhere not to get the coated. got a spool today of some rope they offer here at my shipyard. it looks like climbing rope or something similar. its 4mm and is rated for 250 kg. someone else specified spectra or non stretch from sail boat companies. so im going to try them next if this stuff breaks. i just need to make it until dec. when i come up. ive got my fingers crossed............

i must say after putting it on the spool last night,....................um,...............im having my doubts. i gave it a pull with the handle and i could feel it stretch. im emailing seattlemarine today to see if they can ship me some to here. ive done enough rope buying.

the rope looks like cotton, nylon maybe but if you're having your doubts by pulling on her by hand....forget about it, get some non stretch rope.

the winch herself is sexy, i'm diggin the black fo sho and the round frame. Maybe double the wheels out for some better beach towing, the releasable spool must be money cause pulling out an old salty winch rope is no tea party. i love the metal magic you've put together though, definetly eye candy..... big bite size. Shocked spray her off after each use, then when she dries...WDeez that ho! Birthday

come follow up with some action photos.
