oh yea forgot to ask can you put shoes on over booties, or do they make some kind of sock? i'd imagine the bottoms wouldn't last long against grip tape

Yo order a pair of these at Dicks online.. execute sports neoprene water socks. They are pretty much the same as the Oniell ones Mitch is talking about, but like half the price. I winched today 45 degees out, water probably 35-40 and I was fine. A 3/2 wetsuit and these socks are all you pretty much need around here Birthday

Unless you're talking about taking the boat out in the river, then I would recommend a dry suit lol

the one thing about booties is make sure you can fit them in your shoes. when I bought mine years ago, I didn't even think about this. Luckily, they did fit.

as for gloves, I would recommend buying something on the thin side--I think like 1.5 mm or so. again, I didn't know anything when I bought my stuff and all I could think about was WARMTH! so I have these 3 mm gloves I've never worn and probably never will because it hurts to even wear them and clench your fist. There's no way I could even hold onto a handle with them.

I haven't purchased a hood yet, but I want one (and real gloves) for next year. This year labellethrasher, gregeo and I finished our season on November 9th and the air was 36 degrees. Obviously the water was even colder. I'd wished I'd bought the aforementioned items, but as a ghetto kit I bought a swim cap and wore a visor beanie over it, and some shiznackle gloves. The gloves were stupid...they might have protected my hands from the wind, but you know, they were still wet and hella cold.

So anyway, I think cold water gear is a really good idea! Razz You won't regret it, just buy the right stuff and you'll be golden.

Like esnow said, don't go too thick or your gloves and booties will be useless. Go with 1.5 gloves, the 3mm booties wakemitch or brett l is talking about and an Oneill Squid Lid. You'll be set! and toasty Twisted Evil

caprice150, Buy Not What Cha Think the DVD, it has Bootys, Gloves, hoods! It all! Wink shameless plug

I'd go to a dive shop and get your hood. They seem to have the best. Bootys. Oneil has the best ones I like. And for gloves, there is a brand out there that I can't think of off my head, but it's in every hunting store out there. They are Lined with fleese and are water tight!! awesome to use, offer alot of grip!
