He is not backing out he wants to postpone them so that Obama and himself can be in Washington to vote on this bail out plain. I personal think they should. After all remember that they are both senators and this is what we pay them to do. Not debate or campaign.

Um. He backed out. After he challenged Obama. What did he do while all this was going on anyways? Nothing. Nothing until today. Im sure that he went all over the country collecting checks to support him and now he backs out of a debate that he wanted in the 1st place.

mergeleft3, Yes they're both senators, but the bail out issue is being hashed out in committee right now. McCain and Obama are not on those committees. What exactly will they be doing? Pacing up and down the hall in front of the room where the meetings are taking place, casting pensive glances at the doors? He's grandstanding by trying to pull the "oh my country needs me now" bs. Look at his voting record Laughing

its accutally a very good move on mccains part because he has put obama in a bad position. on one hand obama can look like he doesnt care as much about the economy by continuing not suspending his campaign, or he can follow mccain's lead and try to work out a solution for the economy..

either way bad for Obama

Lollar, your whole post just said "vote for obama". mccain is doing the right thing, obama should join him and vote for the bailout plan too. but of course he won't and it'll make him seem great because he would love to face an empty chair at the debate.

This is simply a strategic move on mccain's part to try to convince the public that he is taking the intitiative on the bailout crisis since the voters feel Obama has been more convincing on the economy.

McLOVIN, I think it is more of a politically savvy, strategic move by the the Republican to once again dupe the people and pray on emotions, not about tackling the crisis at hand. And I will hand it to the GOP, they're damn good at moves like this. They know how to get into the hearts of the uninformed and shall I dare say uneducated voter, the ones that vote on emotion, not issues and policy. Let's see, fear mongering, using an unqualified Palin to court the woman vote, the typical reference to 9/11, used this time in corelation to our current economic crisis. Funny thing about this current crisis is that, while people too often see it as a result of the middleclass living beyond their means, it was all brought on by the unregulated, predatory lending practices of the upper ecelon of wealth and their greed, Sounds like the right-wing to me, wealthy, greedy, unregulated, and predaceous.

EJazzle, happens all the time in nature . The strong prey on the weak and feeble. Sometimes though, they pray on the wrong victim and are inflicted by the same ailment that caused the weakness in the first place. Thing is, when it effects the top rungs of a pride for instance, it will trickle down and possibly wipe out the entire pride.

feelnjstfine, No offense, but you are plainly an idiot. The Democratically controlled congress voted to lower loan qualifications because they wanted "more people to have houses" and because "it wasn't fair". And yes, Obama was a lead figure in developing and supporting the BILL THAT YOU NEVER HEAR ABOUT BECAUSE THEY ARE LIBERAL. Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

I disagree, i think McCain is doing what he thinks is the best thing he should do for his country right now. I'm just saying I don't think there is a motive behind it. He isn't answering to what anyone wants him to do (having the debate with Obama) he is putting everything aside to make sure he has a say in getting the economy back on track. Bravo, McCain, Bravo !

feelnjstfine, true that, but do you think they should limit those huge company's like AIG? Because even though they are privately owned, they still have a huge impact on our economy.

Isnt Bank of America the only bank thats not in debt or bankrupt right now?

pyroskater00, never heard about that bill, even though that bill was passed im sure people that didnt meet those qualifications still got loans.

pyroskater00, sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm well aware of of that vote. Thing is, because of the unregulated financial policies, a hallmark of the GOP, the mortgage industry and debt buyers were able to take advantage of these new home owners, many of them first time buyers unaware of alot of the practices that go on in the debt industries. Yeah some of them probibly were unfit to be home owners, but at the same time does that really make it right for them to be victimized. On one hand you could call it capitalism at its finest and on the other call it capitalism at its worst. Also, if I'm such an idiot, why is it you and not me that has to resort to name calling when I don't agree with someones views. More about point/counter point. Then again you're young and I was the same way when I was that age so I don't hold it against you really.

EJazzle, to me if there is really something that does need to be regulated in these large corporations it is the billions of dollars in frivolous bonuses that these companies hand out every year. The trickle down effect happens and in the end the comsumer ends up paying for them, at their expense.
