Get the GL. I just got a GL-1 and the only major difference is the manual gain control from the mic on the GL2. They're sick cameras for sure. The pixel shift really works and makes a beautiful image, which i was iffy about when looking to buy one. Also you can't really go wrong with Canon's lens quality and overall camera quality. Panasonic is really really good too but the one you posted is a consumer cam that just won't satisfy like a Pro/Prosumer cam will. For panasonic, if you're willing to spend the money i'd recommend looking into DVX100's. the B or the A model.
