In the new WBM with the readers poll I was kind of upset that some people didnt choose the new riders like Stu Shinn, Nick Taylor, Ben Horan, and Reed Hansen or any of the other riders that are bringing new stuff. I'm not hating on the OG's like A. Reed, Scott Byerly and Brian Grubb they all kill it. I gues this is the READER'S poll. _________________ ..........Oak.......... |

| Do you guys honestly think people that read wakeboarding magazine don't know who the good wakeskaters are? It's all about endorsements and money from the big companies as to who gets featured in these things. How many people do you honestly think vote? I've been reading WBM for 10 years or so and never voted once in one of those polls. |

i wakeskate. and i read WAKEBOARDING magazine. Even if i still strapped i woulda known about NIckT Stu Reed and all those guys, they are not oblivious to everything but wakeboarding. The majority of people know who really is good on a wakeskate and who isnt. _________________

| kyle, i dont agree wiht your first part, i really dout alotta wakeboarders know some of the big names wakeskating, i honestly couldnt name that many wakeboarders i know.. a few just form when i used to wakeboard like randell and murray..... i mean some wakeboarders have a negative outlook on wakeskating so i wouldnt excpet them to give a eff about our riders or pros. |

| I wasn't saying they don't know who the big names are. I bet they have heard of a lot of them. But if you think about it, those 3 riders are the main wakeskaters you see in wakeBOARDING videos . Watch PULL. They are always the featured skaters. (Plus Reed and Danny sometimes) I'm sure they have heard of a lot of the new rippers, but they just like reppin' the same OG's from the same LF/Hyperlite circle. |

I have to say, the other riders stoaked listed have coverage in wakeboarding magazine, and nick has written a few articles for them as well. Last year reed completely killed the wakeskating events that were a part of the king of wake series (heavy wakeboarding shizzle), so it's not like he's out of their frame of vision either (much like stu and the success he's experienced, thus far). Flip it around--does byerly REALLY get that much coverage in the mag? I mean byerly himself, actually riding, and not his wakeskate tour or his board company. As far as I can throw it, I'd say no, because he doesn't even do the king of wake stuff and doesn't kill it on the toe jam either. Anyway, It's not like these "newer riders" are totally absent from that magazine because they've had some killer sequences from most of those guys--nick had his first cover, stu had a huge wake to wake 3 shuv, d.hampson has had some sick stuff in there as well.
Anyway, I'm sure people have different reasons for ranking riders the way they do. Personally, I'm really stoked on aaron and brian's riding, and if they made that top three, I say good for them! And as WBM pointed out, it's really interesting that last year byerly didn't even make the cut and this year he's in the top three.
Also, it is called wakeboarding magazine, but all of our industry's magazines were originally based around wakeboarding (and yeah, that is their main clientele) but all have also tried to represent wakeskating as well. Grubby was honored with the first ever cover of Alliance, and WBM for sure supported wakeskating throughout the years, some more than others. I guess similar to what liquidforce28479 said, it is what it is... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I am in no way saying that the riders that made the top 3 arent good they kill it everyone of them. In air time they even say he may not have all the tricks but he has contributed to the sport so much. I totally agree with that he has done so much for the spor with the toe jam and the projects and so on. I have to agree with esnow that all the new riders do get coverage just in this mag is a write up on NT's integ. They have had some sick sequences of Hansen, Danny, Stu and so many other riders that kill it I'm excited to see what the move of the year is and wakeskater of the year _________________ ..........Oak.......... |
