| Don't get me wrong, since I started wakeskating not too long ago, its re-awakended my love for boardsports, and I can honestly say I enjoy it more than anything else, even skimming on chest high shorebreak . But the only thing I don't like about it is watching it, as weird as that sounds. I'm curious where its going to go in terms of harder tricks and such. Bigspins and other technical stuff is tricky to do, but its not really too exciting to watch. And I think thats why it may not get as big as wakeboarding, I would think majority of people would rather see someone bust a huge 900 than a 3 shuv or something. Thoughts on this? |

If people can tell you love what your doing and are having a good time, its always fun to watch for me.
On the same note I understand your point of view, and I've come to this conclusion. Most people who don't get excited from wakeskating have never done it and don't appreciate the level of difficulty in tricks that don't look hard. Once most people try it they have much more respect and seem to enjoy good riding. _________________ -Jordan Schwaller

| i think it just varies from person to person. i have friends that get so stoked to ride that its kinda hard not to watch them even though they cant land that much. then theres other kids that can go out and land a bunch of harder tricks clean but they look miserable as they do it so nobody really watches. |

| everything is on such a much more technical level in wakeskating than wakeboarding, and i love watching my friends and anyone else get stoked on landing something or throwing down a nice line. |

yeah thats a good comparison, but even in street skate, theres still more to do than in wakeskating, where you can flip trick flat or w2w. I'm not trying to bring the sport down, just try to think of ways to make it more watchable to the general bystander that would make them want to try it right away. |

I know exactly what your saying, I love watching people land new tricks for themselves, but what I mean is watching someone who is already good at all of them. I think what I'm trying to get at is I think it would be cool if wakeskating had the best of both wakeboarding and skating, like watching someone pull a sick 3 shuv and then come back to pull a backflip w2w or something. Not just technical stuff. |

okay i just quickly skimmed over what u had to say. a year ago i would agree with wat your saying.
i think wakeskating is starting to get heaps technical. get ur hands on a copy of Volume wakeskate issue 7. Im pretty sure that will change your mind.
dont compare a 900 to a 3shuv. The sport of wakeskatin is beyond 3shuvs and the actual tricks being thrown down at the moment are amazing to watch, even to the eyes of someone whom of which havent seen the sport before.
Just remember, the sport is young and it is already getting very tech. Skateboarding was in the same boat, but look where it is now. I find skateboading as one of the most technical sports out there. So much skill and creativity is amongst that sport. |

First off I don't live in Florida and I don't live in the south, so there is not much of a wakeskating scene around these parts. Anyways, I wakeskate because it is different and not all people understand it, unless they have tried it before, then they usually are addicted immediately, but I do it for myself and not for the people in the boat. I think that is why wakeboarding slowed down because of the limitations of w2w and people wanting to only see double flips or 900s. Most stylee wakeboarders would rather hit rails and backside 180s into the flats..well the ones I want to see. For instance, Randall Harris stepped out of the game for a while, and Im not sure why but I love his style on a wakeboard, it doesnt get old and he kills it.
wakeskating whether it grows into a huge spectator spot or not will be more enjoyed by those with the boards under their feet. For me, it is more rewarding than wakeboarding and more artistic and fluid. Its also cheaper, thus moving with are economy right now.(cable parks..)
I bet only 15 people backflip on a dirtbike, but that gets tons of air time on tv for being so xtreme...on the other hand, wakeskating its more like skating or surfing and much more accesible ( boat/gas/winch friendly)
As I ride I hope others are watching and just get turned on into the sport and drop $200 on a wakeskate for the boat so they can give it a try. The growth in the last 8 or so years has been crazy in my opinion. I know people are like did u see that kid with no bindings???
A funny thing happened the other day a group of kids pulled up to me in their malibu and asked them if that was a 5 I just fell on. I laughed and said no I just missed a 3 and held up the skate, they thought I was wakeboarding. That guy hasnt boarded since and has only been wakeskating for the past month.
PUSH the Sport I cant wait to see what the future has in store, hopefully it will be like skateboarding and have a sort of slow growth into maturity...

I'll have to look that up thanks. Yeah, the sport is still very young, so I guess ill have to wait a bit longer to see how the limits will be pushed, I just hope it will have a good mix of technicality and "epicness". |

honestly wakeskating lines get me so much more stoked than wakeboardl ines, cause wakeboard lines are all kinda the same thing, basically im not impressed but with wakeskating there seems to be so much more style and flow, so its cool to watch. my 2 cents. wakeskating fTW _________________ "Wakeskating is...not fun. | It might just be me, but I think wakeskating would be better if more and more focus went on doing these new technical tricks with big air. Otherwise its just like watching a skateboarder skate down a sidewalk doing bigspins and stuff. |

so true, i know people that fit both of those characteristics perfectly
watching someone shred and throw crazy tricks isnt even fun to watch if there pissed doing it or not having a good time _________________ Team Dream Sleds

bob., the easiest way to add style to your riding is by adding a smile to your riding.
