I just got my new wakeskate... a 2008 Hampson 40. I was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions about the fins.

I chose just to put in the tail fin. What's the best way to put the screw to the fin through without damaging the grip tape.

There are also 3 pairs of holes on the nose of the board. (I assume for a fin and two udders??) I've heard that these need to be filled somehow to prevent a de-lamanation. What's the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

if u think that the holes must be filled, or the water shooting up from them bugs you, You can drip candle wax into the holes. This will stop the water and it is temporary so if you ever want to use the holes for udders you can just push out the wax

The company I bought from sent me the wrong size screw for the fin. Does anyone know the correct size so I can pick one up tomorrow?

They fit in the hole fine, they just aren't long enough.

suncure works really well to plug the fin holes. its like 2 bucks at a surf shop.

put a screw driver through the fin hole where the grip tape is to make a nice even hole.

have fun with it! post up some pictures!!

You don't need to worry about damaging the grip tape when you're setting up your fins. Just screw them in and you're set.

Secondly, the two sets of holes that are set in towards the middle of the deck are for udders or other such contraptions. Some people have used candle wax to fill in those holes.

That's strange about the screws not being long enough. You could potentially just take your board and fin with you to a hardware store to see what size will work best. Or you could make an educated guess, based on how far your current screws stick out on the bottom of the deck and how much more screw you need for them to attach your fins. Good luck and have fun with your new board. Cool
