Is it just me or do a lot of the riders coming out this day seem to have a tall/skinny body type?

Not to sound weird, but it seems like the majority of the riders are tall and skinny with big feet. For example, George Daniels, Stu Shinn, Aaron Reed, Reed, etc.. Do they have advantages flipping the board and getting pop because of their size/shape?

I am not tall or skinny and I think that is one of the main reasons why I needed a shorter board. For me, riding a 42 or 43 is so much harder to ollie and control because of the distance from tail to nose. I am built with a longer torso, which is great for grabbing the board, but it makes it more difficult to ride larger boards comfortably. I come from a skateboard background and am still trying to learn my first kickflip, I get closer to v-flips right now, and I will hopefully start landing them soon.

I would like to hear some others thoughts on this matter. I think riding a shorter board is going to help me progress.

I think tall wakeskaters are more of a rarity but not like strappers who all seem to look like roided midgets. I'm 6 foot, 185 lbs, and have a size 12 foot. I'm one of the biggest wakeskaters I know.

danny and andy are great examples of shorter riders, that andy video on youtube is insane!

I was wondering if anyone else saw this trend and if people should ride shorter boards for their size.

danny matt and andrew are all about my size, i'm 185 and 5'9" i think they arent as fat as me though. they all kill it

i think GD and RH are the tallest. RH walked by me and he seemed like he was 6 3 or so.

i dont think it matters your size. just lankier people and shorter people have a different style.

Ha Ha, I just see pics and videos and I was thinking hell, it seems there are a lot of tall and skinny fvckers killing it right now.

Yea, I am not worried about my size I am just stoked I bought a smaller deck so I think it might help me progress, although I know danny rides a 41 or 42, I think a 38 or 39 will suit me just fine.

p.s. I don't live in Florida, I don't see the pros at a local cable park, and I am pretty much one the only people not wakesurfing up here as far as I know.

im 6'4 and 190 with size 14 feet FTW.

No. im kidding. its not that great.
The height and weight i like, sometimes i do feel i get an advantage, with the extra weight i have over my short friends i feel like i can control and pop the board more, also i ride a 43' since im so dam tall.
But the big feet, FTL. for sure.
