I'm looking into getting subs for my Grand Am. I have heard some good things about Rockford Fosgate Punch subs. I'd like to run two 12's in a vented box. Can anyone give suggestions on a good setup that wont break the bank. I dont know what amp to run. I'd also like to put new 6X9's on the rear shelf. Suggestions? My buddy just put 6X8's in the doors of his probe, does anyone know if this would be a wise decision?
Thanks for the help
Nick.

| dont go to best buy/circuit city/anything like that, look for a good install shop and go in a talk with them. and see what they say, then research online and find good prices and go back and seee what theyll do for u price/install wise and ull prob end up with a good deal. internet prices are cheap but if u dont know how to install properly ur best bet is a good person owned shop. |

You'll get bored of 2 12's very quickly unless you're an attention seeker. It's too much bass and drowns out the mids and trebles. I would suggest a single 10 or 12.
I'm running a power acoustik pw2 sub 12" that i bought new for like $60.
It sounds better than the two polk db 10's I had a year ago. I ran a ported box for a while but it took up too much room so I switched to a sealed box, I have my 1000w amp turned down 1/2 and the bass is still tight and crisp and not rattley or annoying.
If I were to do it again I would go with this setup:
12" Memphis M Class $100
Kicker 500w amp $200
Ebay box $35
Wiring Kit of choice $40+ (4 gauge)
Try looking at:
Eclipse
Polk
Image Dynamics
Pioneer Premier's
Orion
Memphis

| nickl011, hey i had plenty of car audio stuff in my old car. what kinda car do you have?? rockford fosgate punch subs are not that great, they are cheap and will give you a little bass but nothing that will sound decent, but for a little more money, you can have a way better system either. and the box will depend on what kinda car you have. buy some subs from jbl, memphis, powerbass, RE, some of jl audios cheaper lines are very nice too. the kicker square subwoofers are preety good too, fair price and good sound. ive got many different systems sitting in my garage that are perfectly good, ill sell you some subs if you want, they are just expensive to ship. i got 4 jbl 12in subs, a memphis mojo 15in, and an audiobahn 12in sub, i also got a few amps too. let me know if you want anything and i can show you pictures. hope this helped a little bit, let me know if you have any more questions and im sure i can help. |

damned04, <MikeG>, Thanks.
My buddy that has the probe has two Dual 12's, but I'm not sure on the model. They sound awesome. Does anyone know of good Dual subs?
BTW, the car is a 98 Grand Am GT. _________________ If you don't like my fire then don't come around. Cuz I'm gonna burn one down.

i just looked up a few dual speakers, they are pretty similar to the rockfor fosgate speakers, if your buddy has them and they sound good, let me know what kind they are and i can check them out.
also you might want to check your local craigslist becuase you can get some really good deals on there sometimes with car audio. |

its not bad, it really just depends what you want, if you want just some bass that will be there and not to loud or not to good of sound quality then this is fine, you will just have some bass.
but if you want loud bass with not a great sound quality, then you want to go with more speakers, or bigger ones like 2 12s or 2 15s in a big ported box.
if you want good bass with good sound quality, then you might have to spend some more money than you want, but its worth it in the long run... trust me i went through 4 systems till i found the right one. |

| i have 2x JL Audio 12" subs, im running them with a 1200 wat boss audio amp. i am happy with the quality of them, and i believe you can find them for 99$ a pop, get a ported box if its in your trunk, dont settle for anything else. i also have a full setup of infinity speakers so that the audio quality is better when volume is turned up, the subs very rarely drown any of it out.if you want any more details send me a pm |
