Ok, I AM SO STOKED! finally got me a board together, it's a hyperlite scape 116 i got fo 55$ I'm a total newb but I want this bad! My pull is a 17 Alumn bass boat with a 40hp yamaha, not much but he's willing! Prob is I need 2 get a rope together now. Beins as how I'm only 15, gots no job, got a few lawns though and some b-day cash. Am looking 4 my best value. I know I need a low stretch rope and I also need a handle. Any suggestions? Would a wakeboard rope b the same thing as it looks like i can get a btter deal on a combo from wakeboard sites? The 2 marinas around here only sell ski ropes.

Also, what safety gear should I wear? What types of injuries can I expect? Anybody ever lose any teeth to a board flipping up?

Thx

Any handle will work man. You just need to be able to hang on to it. As far as safety goes, thats up to the law of motion and you.

check out buywake.com for closeouts on stuff. I got my awesome handle for cheep there. I would suggest you wear a CGA life vest. Its not worth risking it to look cool or to be more comfortable.

bigtwake, I know that. But there is a risk that if anyone happens and you loose consciousness you probably wont float with your mouth/nose above water. You can even sink if there is no oxygen in your lungs.

bigtwake, next time you are out exhale all the air out of your lungs and don't move your arms and legs to tread water and see if you will still float with your head above water. I'm not trying to challenge you on this point or anything, just curious how well non-cga's work. I read that story of the guy dying with an A-10 on and haven't used my O'Neill Vapor since. I like the vest, but it doesn't float me well enough if I was knocked out while riding.

edrex, I read that story too and I juit wearing my a 10. You may think your vest floats you fine and maybe it does, but the true test is when you have no air in your lungs and your knodked out. Maybe bigtwake has a higher body fat percentage and his vest floats him. My a 10 surely didnt float me well enough.

Im not trying to call bigtwake fat or insult him but body fat does play a role in ones boyancy.

Imagine the audacity of all those arseholes not wearing vests at all! They could be killed. Or worse.

I kid, I just got a helium non cga unit. Also I got knocked out a few years ago and ended up face down wearing a cga jet pilot. I'm just sayin.
