I don't know if you guys saw the feature in transworld, but they had this contest involving four companies--it was a photo contest of sorts and it was super bad ass. I'm in a hurry so I can't recall all of the details! Anyway, DVS won (the imagery was outstanding) and they're going to be airing a tv program on the whole event on fuel tonight. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

You know, I actually thought they were one of my top favorites. I think globe was kind of disappointing. I can appreciate the concept after reading all of the difficulties they encountered with their imagery and such. but the emerica write up coupled with the imagery was a really good. I think it was definitely one of the top entries, at least to my liking.
With the DVS one, it said they were using rolls of 100.00 film??? Schnikees!! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Yeah the write up on Emericas shoot was pretty crazy, the ideas he had seemed were pretty wild. It was just hard to tell what was going on. The Globe stuff was kinda silly with all the weird lighting, but the things they built was awesome. Haslam's first picture on that rail was fresh.
DVS did work. The whole thing was awesome. Apparently they went through a lot of trials and tribulations with film, lighting and placement. I can't imagine trying to skate that stuff lit the way it was, and all smokey and hot as balls. _________________ I'm no scientist, but I do drink a lot of booze. |

| I only saw the DVS one on their podcast but it was sick. They did a thing about how they made it and had a video with all the tricks that went down. Check it out if you haven't already. |

i will have to check out the podcast--I'm not very good about doing that because whilst I have a high speed connection, my computer is a complete pile of crap. I'm waiting it for to die (but not necessarily wanting it to).
the weird one was osiris' little set up. I know they used some interesting photographic elements in it, but I think it also became exactly what DVS said they were trying to avoid...I can't remember the word they used--something like gimmicky. The globe obstacles were nuts, and it's seriously someone like haslam who would would destroy that type of set up.
I'm looking forward to the program tonight...I'm totally building it up in my mind! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
