avatar picture problems

there is probably a post of this already, but how would i get a picture i took to by my avatar, i have tried to resize it to fit the height and width thing, but the size of the picture, is above the 6k or something size how can i reduce that?

You have to upload the pic and get a url. once you get the img url post it in LINK TO OFF-SITE AVATAR found under where you are trying to upload your current pic
