What's up ya'll, just got an 07 Gator Drew for cheap and was hoping for some wise words to a newcomer. Pretty low on cash and hope to make this board last so any tips you have for me would be great.
Don't know to much about wakeskating except it looks fun, but I've heard a lot of people on here complaining about their boards getting water logged, anyone know if the sealing on the Drew is sufficient or should I add to it, and are the holes I'll need to be stuffing with wax? Any experienced Drew riders your words would be music to my ears, so please add anything you can.
That said if anyone lives in or around the Dirty Jerz, feel free to hit me up I live on the Mullica river with access to just about anything with a motor and plenty of time on my hands
God I love summer |

i have one thing to say to you
have fun
don't worry about landing stuff your first times out. it's all about the fun. just carve around get used to riding the board, and enjoy wakeskating.
as for the board, i don't know much about it. i sealed my board anyway and it's lasted two years(oak). my fin holes aren't plugged and nothing sprays out of them. |

word up caprice. hey i'm just down the coast in MD if u make it thru. the drew board seems to me a lil light.......so i would seal the piss out of her.........as for the holes......wax won't allow the grip tape to stick.......maybe use some silicone caulk........that worked for me. As for the clear grip, that stuff is terrible get some black stuff from a skateboard shop.
Like the guys said......;have fun......cause that's the most amazing thing. Don't lose sight of that.
Riding tips.........sit back and relax, like, don't get pulled over. I like to doggystyle my deck, ya know stay behind that as$......wax it where you can see her. Good luck bro. _________________ dbanana wrote:

Thanks a lot guys, as long as I'm outside and on the water I'll be having a good time, I'm a river rat
I already got some black grip tape from a friend who skates so I'll definitely be applying that, plugging holes with caulk is a daily routine for me so that should be no problem ( ), any recommendations on sealants? I remember hearing good things about one in another thread time to go digging...
Raven, I go to UMD so I might just have to hit you up during my return down the coast in August, I'll let you know...
oh yea what does this mean I see it everywhere |

Wait, where exactly are you from? The Mullica is pretty long.. if you're south, well, me and my bros are the south jersey wakeskating scene. I have a wake edition pwc, a winch, and plenty of rails to hit.. lets ride ! ! _________________ ------------------------------------------------------

I'm in Sweetwater, right around the corner from Sweetwater Casino. I have a pwc and a 76 20' Sportscraft thats in real good shape (except I need a new sump pump) that puts out a pretty decent wake. Have you been in yet? I've only been swimming so far, which was a mistake, but will dewinterize my ve-hicles by friday (hopefully)
I've actually had my eye on a couple primo spots begging for a winch, we will definitely have to meet up during summer... _________________

coricluster, are you serious about getting it waterlogged? I figured I would want to keep it as light as possible since I heard the Drew was already the hot girls chubby friend. With how much I plan on skating this summer I'll probably try to hit you and raven up near the end of august when I'm about to go back to school.
Brett Leadley, I go to Sweetwater all the time, maybe she can hook an underage brotha up with some dranks I'm hoping to get a job at their gas dock, maybe skim a little off the top and ride for free this summer
Hopefully I'll be good enough to hit those rails during summer, that would be tight. I've seen a couple of gaps in the past couple months, only one that comes to mind right now is in Taunton Lakes, it's a sweet four or five foot drop/waterfall kind of thing. What kind of boards do you have? _________________

yea man, i like my boards heavy, u have more control, i like to let mine soak up a shotload of water then i will seal it in. i ahvent had any problems yet. i found that it works good. especailly if u are skating on a windy choppy day that thing will still stay under ur feet. but to each his own, just have fun with it.
come skate with us brett. |
