Sawyer, we use the 7/64" Amsteel in the bottom link above. It is strong as shizzle. We did get a snag in it and it broke later where it was weak, but a new knot and we haven't had any trouble. It will deep water start me.
I am interested in the other line in the first link though. Looks like a great price. _________________ Sattelyte Wakeskates

I would be kind of leary of the kevlar core rope for $50.00... Kevlar is not considered a non-stretch material nor is polyester, and they do not say what the tensil strength is (I prefer at least 1100 lbs tensil strength)... The only materials considered non-stretch are Spectra, Dyneema, and I believe there are 1 or 2 others. If you try to find what the tensil strength of this Kevlar core rope is, be sure to find out what the actual diameter of the Kevlar is first: use the true diameter of the kevlar to lookup strength. The Polyester does not add much strength to rope at all; its more or less just a protective cover.
IMO - If you are trying to buy as cheap as possible, go with the 7/64" Amsteel before you try the Kevlar core rope. However, if you can afford it, go with 1/8" Spectra, Dyneema, or Amsteel.

Do you guys put eye loops on the end of your winch line like normal wakeboard rope? If so how? I've spliced eye loops onto normal 12 strand ski rope before and thought i could do the same with the amsteel but it isn't working so well. |
