it looks good, i dont like the wood spool i dont think it will hold up, but i like the tubular frame, i think thats a good idea and it should be a little lighter. the splash guard is nice too.. nice work

Thanks. The spool is just Temporary but its 1 inch thick so it holds up just fine, and the frame is realy light to it is made out of galvanise so it doesnt rust also. The spool is put togetheir with 10inch bolts with galvaise spacers in the middle.

the fumes from welding galvanized can make you sick for a couple days. It won't kill you but it doesn't sound like a pleasant experience, and welding vaporizes the portective zinc coating in the weld area making it really prone to rust. It would be a good idea to coat it with some zinc paint to restore anti-rust properties.

If you weld stainless you get Chromium 6 and Hexavelant Chromium...Which is known to cause cancer.

Federal Jury awards $20.5 million in welding fumes lawsuit

12/10/2007
A jury in the U.S. District Court in Cleveland, Ohio, awarded Jeffery Tamraz, 51, a judgment of $17.5 million, and his wife an additional $3 million in a lawsuit in which Tamraz sued four companies for not issuing sufficient warning about the dangers of inhaling welding fumes.

Tamraz claimed the fumes gave him tremors, headaches and symptoms similar to Parkinson’s disease. Tamraz worked as a welder and ironworker in San Francisco for 27 years.

A nine-person jury said Lincoln Electric, Hobart Brother Co. ESAB Group, TDY Industries and BOC Group showed negligence by not sufficiently warning Tamraz of the toxicity of manganese in their products.

Lawyers for those companies said they will appeal the verdict.

Nearly 3,000 similar lawsuits have been filed by welders who claim that welding rod producers failed to protect them from the potential dangers of manganese coming from the fumes generated by the welding process.

The welding companies have said that the amount of ultra-fine manganese particles in welding fumes is too low to cause harm and that workers who use masks and ventilating fans will not be affected.

Medical studies to determine if those claims are valid have been inconclusive.

The welding companies have won 16 of 18 lawsuits related to welding fumes.

The Tamraz case was the first time a plaintiff won a case since 2003.
