i am looking for the cheap stuff and i can't find the $0.18 a foot 7/64 amsteel. i checked reddenmarine.com but couldn't find it then google'd my balls off and all i can find is the bigger stuff. if i don't find anything soon i might end up shelling out the extra coin for the bulletline. any other places to find the cheap rope?

Here is a link. I ordered some from here about 2 months ago. Works great, and this is only $0.14 / ft.

No prob. It does add up. I ordered 600' of line and had it shipped to NC from Seattle for just under $100. Pretty happy with that purchase.

I'll try to find the chart withthe info on it, but I can tell you that we have deep water started a 250 lb guy with absolutely no problem.

Here is a chart I found, but can't verify the accuracy. I found 2-3 other charts and all are a little different.

One thing that I did find out when I ordered, and it is why it is so much cheaper than even the 1/8" line, is that the 7/64" is an 8 strand rope, while everything else, including the 1/8" (only 1/64" difference) is a 12 strand.

But like I said, we haven't had any problems, and if I had to do it again, I would still buy the 7/64" line.

look here for breaking load of the normal dynamee

http://store.catsailor.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=559&idproduct=16491

i think the bullet line is a dyneema pro line with 900 daN which are 1980 tensile lbs. here are the spec from rope producer Liros

01505-0300 LIROS- D-PRO

12-plaited, 3 mm ø

Extreme line for extreme applications on deck. Especially developed for transmission of highest loads on dinghies and cats. All-purpose line, lowest weight and minimal stretching through LIROS-HEAT-STRETCH-SYSTEM. High abrasion resistance and no water absorption because of special LIROS coating.

Info

- Working stretch < 1%
- higher breaking strenght than wire at the same diameter
- very low stretch
- no water absorption
- with cover from LIROS-Protect also applicable in cleats
- very easy to splice
- also available as Magic-V-Pro in Vectran
- LIROS-HEAT-STRETCH-SYSTEM

Material

- 100% Dyneema

Yeah that sucks. My friend tried to buy 1/8 amsteel for the old iWinch. I told him to go to Reddenmarine.com. When he told me they discontinued carrying it, i couldn't believe it. I paid $134 shipped for 600 feet of 1/8". He ended up paying almost $185 for the thinner 7/64" amsteel. That deal dried up quick.
