How much HP do I need

I trying to build a winch and was wondering if a 3.5 hp engine would pull me...i weigh around 145? Should it be bigger? Shocked

you will want a 6.5hp Wink

6.5 is a good starter, although most new company winches are now coming with a 8hp

i'm not sure but i doubt 3.5 will get you out of the water on a deep start

hus #1, i'd be surprised if a 3.5hp would even be able to chair start someone.
