| I have a 2003 Yamaha fx cruiser that i got for $5000. Yamaha is very reliable. I hear Seadoo's are fast but are in the shop alot. Just make sure you take your time and inlist someone who know alot about small engines. Otherwise you may buy something cheap and end up spending a bunch of money to keep it running. Make sure you take the ski for a test drive and check hull for leaks as well as the oil for milky looking stuff. |

i don't know if a could afford a 4 stroke there mostly in the newer model jet-skis. i was looking at something like a 97 sea-doo.
don't the Yamaha's have that water spray that fly's out the back? |

J.BLAZE, For sure, Yamaha is VERY reliable. I've had a WaveRaider from 96 and it still works flawlessly, I'm buying a 08 Vx Deluxe after Spring Break though. I'm so stoked about it.
And Guy, yes they have the thing that shoots out of the water in the back but I'm pretty sure that it can be disconnected. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/nizzate/ |

no!
if you want to save money by not buying a 4 stroke-you will have to spend lots of money and time for repairing the old 2 stroke engines-they do not last!!!!!!!! |

2 strokes are simple engines. the may not last as long as a 4 stroke there are many things that can go wrong with a 4 stroke comparable to a 2 stroke. now, i'm not saying two stroke are better they both have there advantages and disadvantages.
does anyone know what to check for when examining the propulsion system? |

that`s true-if something goes wrong with he 4 stroke,it`s gonna be way more expensive than on the 2 stroke
but for daily youse you might end in working more on your 2 stroke, than wakeskating!
but 2 strokes are cheaper for sure!
the Yamaha water spray that fly's out the back is made for toe in surfing in big waves-it makes it easier to spot the ski!!! |

2 Strokes can last a while if you take care of them properly. But the thing I hate about my 96 Yamaha is the noise when your going through minimum wake zones and the blue smoke from the 2 stroke. _________________ http://www.flickr.com/photos/nizzate/ |

| i think he was implying that 4 strokes require maintence less frequently, but i think when the 4 stroke does require it, it costs a pretty penny. |
