Hey guys, wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on producing less shaky, crisper videos when filming closer to a rider. I built this waterproof housing this week and took it out yesterday:

This is the video we got (the first part I pretty much cut Sam's feet off until after I reviewed it, skip to 1:30 if you're impatient)

I was sitting on a tube filming and I guess the water was just too choppy for that kind of filming. Would riding doubles, holding the camera in one hand and handle in the other be better?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

yeah ride doubles! have one rope a lil shorter and u can cross eachother for different angles for different trick. another addition to your set up would be a fisheye/wideangle lense for your camera, it alows you to film closer and have the whole rider easily in the shot.

It not to bad, just make sure you get his feet, and pull the tube closer to the ski or boat, and then it will be easier. do you have a sit in or lay down tube? if its lay down then you can lay down backwards, and stick your feet in the handles. At least thats wat I do.

The first thing you gotta do is get a wide angle lens. For a camera like that, one of the cheap ($30) ones on ebay would work fine. Look for something close to .45x. That will keep the rider in the frame easier, and make it less shakey.

i dont know if a wide angle would work, you might get the PVC in there.. but buy one anyways they are like 30 on ebay..

when filming on a tube try and sit upright on your knees to film. it will be a little steadier.

or just ride doubles and hold the camera down by your side with your arm all the way extended on your side, or you can put your arm through the handle and hold the camera with two hands, just try a few different things and see which you like the best,

i would agree with those that suggested the wideangle. i would go with that first, then the fisheye later when you have the money. you can get a decent lens for that camera for around $30-50.

while the fisheye is cool, if thats all you use in the housing the distortion can become a little redundent.

anyway, have fun, thats a sick housing for sure! i like how it looks like and easy to hold while riding doubles.
