i just used the hairdryer to get all my tape off. the problem is it left all the glue and like certain spots have big pieces of glue. should i use paint thinner or something to get all of this off? then clean the board really good to make sure it's gone before i put the new tape on? or what should i do from here?

Don't worry about the glue. Just grip over it.
If you cant bear the idea of gripping over it, use Acetone.

when i used goo gone you have to use a bunch of paper towels to rub it all off. it works best on skim and surfboards for old wax removal

i ended up just putting the grip over the glue. it seems to be holding well and there's no bumps or bubbles. it did fine.
