I like the color of the materials that are used near the laces. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| electricsnow, Went on their site, looks like they aren't official Nike Collabs but instead they have their own designers/crafters that do the work on their own. Is that how most of the collabs work? Or are the ones that Nike has a hand in the ones that people really want? Still pretty sick anyways. Gonna watch that auction just to see how crazy people get on those shoes, haha. |

I also noticed (from the listing) that it's a one off. I'm amazed they can even do that...it seems illegal.
I don't know a whole lot about the special edition nike shoes, but I think the true collaboration models are legit and not a "1 of 1" kind of deal. I don't remember where I found the link...maybe it was on this site, but I went to some nike/sneaker collector forum, and they had this section on how to spot fake nikes...kind of interesting to me, just because I like to have a watchful eye that pays attention to the little details (not necessarily with shoes like that, but it interested me none the less).
And for the record, I too love hightops...it whisks me back to first grade. If only they had a velcro strap around the ankle, they'd be (ahem) luh-git. (did I get that right?)
EDIT: I just wanted to add that I think there are other...artists, or something, that hand craft special edition shoes like that. I cannot remember how it all works, but an example is this hand woven pair of shoes that I believe were inspired by some sort of moccasin...I saw them in some sneaker magazine that I bought because there was an article on the history of airwalk. Those hand crafted jobbies are super expensive and highly collectable. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

its just a pair of white and red dunk hi's that a guy took a paint brush too. nike and redbull have never done a shoe, and i really dont think you will ever see one. if your into custom shoes check out the custom shoe topic on the hypebeat forum, http://www.hypebeast.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19 . In the grand scheme of customs, those are pretty meh. It's pretty crazy tho what some people have done in terms of customs. this is another painted shoe, but the execution is pretty insane http://www.hypebeast.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59205
Beware whenever your buying nike sb's, retro nikes, or jordans on ebay. There is a lot of fake stuff floating around out there. Do your research, and normally if it looks to good to be true it is. _________________ oh great now i have ink all over the screen |

| Catalyst, That's what I figured. But It is fun to watch all of the sneaker feins go crazy on potential fakes pretty much. I love it! All of the Dunk SB Heads damn near pay all of my bros bills at his shop , 561 Skateboarding, so all of the other stuff is more or less nothing but profit. Meanwhile, he hooks all of us OG homies up with the same shoes at pretty much cost.Hey, at least scaterswe skate in them and ruin tham, instead of just tryin to hawk them right then for a quick profit. |

I guess that's one of the crazy things about nike SB (not necessarily those ebay customs though)...by making shoes that are super collectable, they've been able to bring in a bunch of business from non skaters who will buy the shoes. I think there was an article on here about that last fall, but a long ass time ago i was talking to my friend about that, like sneaker collectors going to this skate shop in Miami to get the shoes when they don't even skate.
I'm still pretty fascinated with the fakes though, or just the interest true shoe collectors have taken in trying to discern what's fake and what's not. Some of the design flaws are kind of subtle, others are more obvious, but ultimately, I appreciate the attention to detail. I may have said that before...but whatever!!
but what can I say, one man's trash is another man's treasure....I think I pretty much live by that because I've got some pretty non traditional items stashed like they're gold. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| electricsnow, I know exactly what you're sayin when it comes to non-skatin shoe fiends comin to skate shop and spendin mad money on Nike SB.. My bud Teak that ownes 561 Skateboarding in Jensen Beach, FL( one of the original accounts out of the initial few) has told me that SB pretty much pays for everything and every other sale is more ore less profit. With new releases he's even had to limit purchases to prevent someone buyin a whole lot just to resale.. It seems the uglier the shoe the more they fiend on on them too. Weird. And to think back on the time when you were looked upon as an outcast if you rocked skate shoes. At least we rock SB's the way they were meant to be, torn up and skated in. |
