O.k. I 've searched many posts but the most I get is... works really good. Is there any stuff some of you have used that stays forever so you've had to only put it on once? Epoxy is like plastic so I'm assuming if you don't hit rails your board will last forever? _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

savagegarrick, i use sun cure liquid epoxy...........it comes in a black jug with a handle. You can even buy it buy the gallon. Not the tube stuff. I just refinished my black 4 trac ............where i layed a plastic graphic on the deck, then sealed it and the deck completely with sun cure. It looks like she'll give that board some much needed longevity. _________________ dbanana wrote:

savagegarrick, well im not a 100% sure on that but, theres alot of charter boats down here, which have fighting chairs on them that are often made with wood and are sealed, i've never heard of anyoneone use anything except west systems to seal it, and fighting chairs have to endure alot. my marine mechanics teacher, and building construction teacher also say it is the best haha, and shops here recomend it too.
it may not be the best for sure but it is definately high quality, go ask a hardware or marine store about it or something, see what they say
sorrry i couldn't give you a scientific explanation, buddy
it can be a tad pricey though _________________ Team Dream Sleds

Cool man, I just wanted more than, "it's good" like how shizzle responds to dings, scratches, long periods of submersion, etc... _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

It may be of your interest:
Quote: | Sealing and Construction
For 2008 Oak has adopted a new sealing process for all of their wakeskates. The sealant is an epoxy two-part system, which consists of resin and hardener. The epoxy is hand applied to each board and is set aside for one week to cure. Once the board has set, the applied epoxy is lightly sanded for a smooth finish, and then a marine urethane varnish is sprayed on to finish the sealing and protective process. |

Yup, I read that. Sounds real nice too. But the prices for a new Oak, which I would absolutely love by the way are way outta my price range. That's why I got that Mcguckin for $70 _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |
