col101, depends on what brand you have. Barcellos' Honda 6.5 is amazing. It is so damn smooth and it pulls me no problem at 195 lbs. |

col101, im talking about the engine. but I think Pulldozer uses briggs engines?
Have you tried an 8hp or 6.5hp briggs?
A well built winch with a Honda 6.5 pulls better and with more power than my winch with a Tecumseh 8hp. |

Briggs 6.5's are weak. Go with the 8hp. |

How old are you and how much do you weight?
If your under 200 lbs, a 6.5 will work, just takes a lot more effort to get heavier riders on plane.
Bad for spots with short starting pool.
If you plan on getting fatter than 200 lbs, just go with the 8hp. With a TAV, it will be more than sufficient. Even for the most gnar of gnar spot.

The 6.5 will be fine.
I'm about 180-185lbs at 6'2 and have gotten up deep water behind a ReWind winch with a 5hp B&S and CC. I was also riding a Catalyst112 at the time.
However, as everyone else said if you are going to be pulling 190lbs and up consistently you may as well get the 8hp. Little more money and weight but if you will be pulling the bigger guys a lot might be a good idea. _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray |

That 13hp deep starts me and others great... faster out of the water than behind a lot of boats. The 6.5 pulled me fine but no deep water starts, but I weigh less than 150. It had issues with heavier people though. I've never been behind an 8, but that would probably be the best so you don't regret getting a smaller motor than you need. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |

6.5 briggs with a tav will pull a 200 plus lb rider and do deep water starts, personally if you weigh more than that your fat, that was a little dick, I also believe how you get up matters, an unexperienced rider of 150lbs will struggle to get up behind an winch if he doesn't know what he's doing. |

Yeah I'm a fat bastard... 6'2" 240 but that 13hp B&S Intek is butter. Even little scrawny guys agree it's smooth as flick. No jerking or anything and deep starts are super quick. _________________ -Paul |

i have a home made with 6.5 honda that is ten years old and a tav, and im 190 lbs and it deepwater starts me fine, so if u have to go with 6.5 do it. but if u can afford to upgrade than that may be the answer |
