A buddy from east tx came down the other day and he'd made himself a pretty damn nice speakerbox that fit into the back seat of his car. I was pretty impressed with it. So today i was bored and decided to design my own and make it when i get my car
Just checkin to see what you guys think
my grandma is an upholster. so all i'll really have to do is make the frame and buy the leather
I wanna see if anyone else here has designed their own speakerboxes and whatnot. If you have, go ahead and post some up

Looks sweet but subwoofers sound better in cars when they are facing the other way. (See Pic) Also I see you have cut outs for cup holders, just make sure the sub box is completely sealed (I'm sure you knew that already)
See how the front of the speakers are facing the rear of the car. Bass is bascially just vibration and when they are facing like this the vibration bounces off the back of the car and vibrates back. When you have the speakers faced forward like you would with your box you will lose alot of the vibration because its not bouncing off anything.

Gregeo, Very good point about the way they're facing. This isn't going to be the only sub in the car. I'm planning on having 2 smaller ones in the trunk or behind the rear headrests. The vertical facing cutouts are for small speakers
What kind of car is that? The picture makes it look like it's about 3ft. long
I'm most likely going to be putting mine in a volvo s60.
<3 grandma car.

Might not be the best idea, just because a banging sub would drown out the noise from speakers that are that close to the sub.
The best way to go is to get a sick set of speakers for the front doors, a set with components that will give you flawless sound.
I spent $600 on my front 6X9's, they don't get drowned out by my subs at all and they sound AMAZING! (they better for 6 bills)
I would suggest, if you are going to do something custom in a volvo s60, do something like this in the trunk (see pic)
