Does anyone here like indie/alternative music? Whats your favourite bands? I like basically anyone from Saddle Creek Records ( Cursive, Bright eyes), Against me!, Brand New, Hot Hot Heat, IMA Robot, Manitoba, Modest Mouse, Pixies, the Decemberists, the Getup Kids, the Sniths and the Weakerthans. Theres so many more but anyone like the above or anyone else?

I really like the latest "Saves the Day" cd.
Not so punk as they used to be but it's a great album IMO.

I like Saddle Creek's stuff too- especially Bright Eyes and The Faint.

What exactly is indie, only bands I know out of the above are hot hot heat and brand new, and I love brand new and don't really know to much of hot hot heat. I never have been able to figure out wthat indie is, I never have really been able to distinguish genres. To me music is music. If it sounds good its good music. If it sounds bad it si crap.

My favorite indie band is by far PAVEMENT.
In my opinion, Cursive and Bright Eyes own them A LOT.

pavement is amazing, i listened to crooked rain 20 times just now, the vocals are soo good.

Yeah, Crooked Rain is probably their best cd, and Malkmus' voice is quite unique.

Yeah, I don't think Indie really has a clear definition, I am assuming it means being on an independent label or whatever, but there are tons of bands that sound exactly the same as indie bands that are on bigger labels. I listen to tons of punk, and screamo and half of it is independent and half of it isn't. I think "do you like indie" might not be a good way to look at it, because there are tons of indie bands that all can be classified under different genres of music.

story of the year is not a bad band, although the radio version of until the day I die is to poppy, the rest of the cd and the original version of that song is sick

Brand new is alright, although their cd was a huge dissapointment, its alright if your in the right mood
