wondering if size will make a big problem
i stand about 6'0'' and i just bought a board from a friend. the board is 146ish cm. For like 20 bucks you can't ask for much more, but is the small size going to make it really difficult to snowboard as far as balance, carving, and jumps go? |

thats pretty short, i think i ride a 151 and im like 5'10" and its short for me i feel. but you will be able to spin the board really easily, carving at a high speed will probably be a little more difficult tho, might slip out a little _________________ I run show where ever I go. |

Thats pretty damn short for being 6 feet. My friend that is 5'9" rides a 146 and says its getting too small. Its all personal preference though, if it feels right, go with it... If you feel really unstable and shaky on it, ditch it. Its all about feel
I am 6'4" and just picked up a 158 which felt a bit big at first, but now that I have gotten used to it I'm feelin' great! _________________ liberation |

| i am 6'-6'2'' (depending on which liquor store am leaving) and i ride a 159 (153 for jibs). The 146 is small and your stance is going to be closer together than it should be, but you can still ride it on hardpack, just don't expect to float through any pow. |

Dude, basic rule is tip of board at your chin. Longer for free riding and just bombing hills and powdewr runs. Shorter for the park and spin tricks. Too far either way and you got trouble. But for $20 I think the board will be worth the money. Have you ever ridden before? If not, the board should do you just fine to learn on. Ride it for the season or until you can afford one perfect for your size. I am 5'11" and ride a 159. A 151 is about perfect for me, but I love to bomb hills and just cruise and hit a few drops/clifs/jumps here and there so I've gone a little longer. _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

like everyone else said, that's extremely short, considering your probable weight. Not only will that board be super soft and you'll most likely be overpowering that beach, but if you have large feet you may have some issues with your toes overhanging, which will send you on your face while in a frontside carve.
And a jib board is one thing, but when you're cruising the hill at speeds (and not dropping into some street rail or whatever) and hitting jumps or what have you, a really short, sort board is not where you want to be.
finally, size yourself to the board based on the board's weight range and not the "between your neck and chin" (or whatever) measurement method. your weight makes the board react, not your height...
But good luck with the board anyway. Hopefully you can get a bit of use out of it... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Damn, 142. When you said 146 ish, I was hopin', no smaller than 145. 142 is pretty damn small. I would say small enough where I prolly wouldn't bother with it at a resort. Just your backyard, backwoods or whatever. Binding angle is all riding style and preference. If ya got a little mon ey floating around check craigslist. I've seen a lot of boars this fall for $50 ish with bindings. I actually picked up a board this summer, used once with bindings and boots for $50 _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

stand up on a chair with the snowboard about two feet away.
jump off the chair and land naturally.
that should be a good stance.
i work in a snowboard store and we even have experienced snowboarders coming in saying why didnt i know this method earlier. |
