I read it.
It will be interesting what passionately ignorant resistance this "issue" will walk through the door with.
<3 Sheep who have sipped the bubbly propaganda fed to them and spew it to the masses with no understanding of what's coming out of their mouth. Worthless scum. _________________ √ |

provin1327, Foreshadowing.
I can't stand people who take up a cause or a protest with no understanding of what's going on.
A lot of people are against what these scientists are doing, but with no real grounds for being so. _________________ √ |

che blanc, Yea but I don't really blame them, and by them I'm talking about the skeptics and not the total rejecters. Everybody has an innate fear of the unknown, and this is a pretty unknown subject. I think when it comes creating aritficial life we should keep a VERY close eye on what's going on and what direction scientists are taking it. If you're referring only to the scared-shitless ignorant (probably blindly religous) people, then yes I agree. All taints. _________________ I like to choke when my team needs me the most, no Romo. |

I don't really see this as artificial life, but rather the manipulation of already existing life. The chromosome was stripped down to bare "bones" (for lack of a better word here), leaving only what was essential to maintain life and then already existing genes were spliced in.
Personally, having already created life myself (even though she looks just like her father), I don't see this as any different from the Nazis trying to mate humans females with dogs. "Let's see what we can make!" Maybe these scientists in this instance have more noble aspirations, such reversing global warming, on their mind, but if they do indeed create bacteria that eat carbon dioxide, then what will the plants breathe? There are questions that need to be answered regarding manipulation of this sort that have nothing to do with religious fundamentalism or sheeple. They need to be answered because fiddling with the balance of life is an undertaking that must be taken with grave seriousness.
