With the 2007 Byerly Toe Jam coming to Orlando again with the final stop, Sea-Doo felt it would be fit to break out the 2008 Sea-Doo Wake edition, equipped with the all new ballast, to do the towing in the rail jam finals. With the perfect timing of the release of the 2008 Sea-Doo models, and the Byerly Toe Jam, It was a no brainer to bring the all new Sea-Doo Wake equipped with ballast out for its very first showing to the largest wakeskating event of the year. Unexpected by most, the riders and industry welcomed the new ballast system with open arms. Scott Byerly took a spin on the new 2008 Wake Edition to see what the new ballast was all about, and couldn't believe the difference in the wake. The riders we had time to talk to had nothing but good things to say about this new improved wake (the wake on the water), and also wanted to know when they could get more time on it and see just how far they could take some of there inside out tricks. You could hear the buzz from the riders and the spectators, some wondering what it was, and some had already known of the release of the new ballast, that will be sold as an accessory through your Sea-Doo dealerships. So head over to Sea-Doo.com and take a look at the new 2008 Sea-Doo Wake Edition 215 and the Sea-Doo Wake Edition 155. Also take a look at the rest of Sea-Doo's lineup and let us know what you think.

they should make a way so you can idle and use the jet of the ski somehow to fill it up. like some type of hose or something, idk.

-The ballast does add 200 lbs. of weight.

-It can be retrofit back to a 2003 GTX, or anything with the GTX style upper deck.

-Yes a kid name Trevor Maur in Lake Shasta at Sea-Doo's press intro landed a legit toe side 720 off the double up (Wakeboarding obviously). Also just w2w he could land a decent amount of flip tricks and even 540's.
But enough about wakeboarding.

-Ollieshuvitz, you are rite on track with the way you think. the Ballast has 2 valves that can be turned on and off, and run from the venturi on the pump, so when the watercraft is running it pumps the water into the ballast tanks. When full there are six little overflow holes, so the tanks are constantly filling, you just leave the valves on and let the water keep pumping thru the tanks while you ride.

This is just the first step to improving the wake, and progressing the sport. This is just a start.

Ohhh yea, its not a jet ski, Its a SEA-DOO

Cody25911, are you talking about the water output? Like how on the older Sea Doo's warm water that is used to cool the engine is pumped out? Just trying to get a better idea of how it works.

...
sea doo = Sea Doo

jet ski = Kawasaki

waverunner = Yamaha

As for filling the ballast - Just get one of those syphon things used for gas. It has a ball bearing thing on one end to keep the flow goin'. Just do the extremely awkward jerking motion and let 'er sit while you have your pre sesh brew Smile
