I'm really bored at work so sorry if this is a stupid topic, but am I the only one bothered by this term? it seems like you always do a "90" out of boardslides and lipslides (unless you are doing a 270) so it is kind of redundant. To me it seems more correct to say "boardslide" or "boardslide to fakie" depending on how the rider rotates. Do wakeskaters even really use the term. It was bugging the shizzle out of me at the last pwt stop i went to but this was years ago.

I hate it when people say 90 out, but that's because I'm a jack hole and I get all wound up over stupid stuff.

Why not just say, "front lip, shuv out" (instead of 90 shuv) or whatever. I've never really heard anyone else except wakeskaters use the term "90 out."

Except that one time it was new year's eve in 1990, and at midnight I screamed, "90, OUT!!!" Then it was just me, raging and welcoming the year 1991 with open arms and a positive attitude.

1991 was a rager for sure.

Kay-Kay, Nick Weinacker is the announcer for most of the pro tour gigs and he knows about as much about wakeskating tricks as your local garbageman. The only thing worse than listening to him announce wakeskating would be if a waterskiier tried to do it. Don't lose any sleep over it.

saying 90 out just makes it sound like you did more. and people like to sound like they did more.

well i'm glad i'm on the same page as e-snow. I just kinda wanted to point it out as something that wakeskaters should stop saying. I think most of the time people use it when they should be saying "to fakie." you can either do a boardslide or a boardslide to fakie. both of them require a 90 degree rotation to land. terminology only gets a little fuzzy on switch tricks. and 90 shuv is kinda redundant too. if your doing a boardslide your not gonna do a full shuv and if you do a 270 shuv its okay to specify.

nick, I remember him saying 90 out during the wakeboarders but i know the term comes up in magazines and on the net and so on.

I don't think I have ever heard anyone say "90 out", in wakeboarding, wakeskating, skateboarding, or snowboarding. I agree though if anyone is using it kinda lame. I like fakie out think that sounds better, and is proper.

che blanc, you seem like a wild one. I knew you'd be on the same page. I still dream about 01-01-91. one word, five letters--n-u-t-t-y.

Back then, it wasn't about wiping the imaginary dirt off your shoulders. It was all about slicking your 'brows (short for eyebrows, bros) and smoothing your face. You think that sounds impossible, like your face is a wrinkled bed sheet or something. But it's all about creating that impression that lasts a lifetime.

of course I'm going to be accused of talking gibberish, but I guess in the end, you just had to be there.

Anyway, yeah. I guess I've said my piece about the whole 90 shuv sin-dig. It's 91 that I can't let go of.

well if you want to get all technical in here and say no 90's out then dont be calling it to fakie either, because when you land on the board you landing switch there is no fakie or nollie in wakeskating?

actually if you really want to get technical, when you take off reglar and do a 180,540, or "90 out" you are gonna be landing fakie.

im stumped I always thought if you do a 180 or a 540 you will be landing switch not fakie, fakie is where you ride the board backwards but in the same stance still, so by all means you can ride fakie on a wakeskate and maybe somehow go off a kicker riding fakie but if everyone wants to get tech then its just switch no?

another topic to arise is

Switch 180 Vs. Half cab

on a skateboard, technically you land fakie after you 180. But if you 180 and then pop your trick off of what was your nose (and is now your tail) it's switch. If you pop off of what was your tail (and is now leading your direction of travel and basically becomes your "switch nose") it's fakie. Hopefully that all made sense.

switch vs half cab in watersports (and anything else besides skating, for that matter) is old news.
