|
|
Hey guys i'm new to this forum. I saw wakeskating for the first time a couple of months back and i'm just starting out. Having skated for 5+ years before I was blown away to see kickflips etc being done on water.
I've been out on a skate on a cable a couple of times and i'm ready to learn some stuff. I'm planning to try and get ollies down first and maybe try some shuvits. Also I need to get acid drop dockstarts down, although my shoulder is jacked at the moment so one armed starts aren't doing me much good. I reckon I might try and work on underflip dockstarts instead for a while... Apart from that I'm not sure what else I should be learning any recommendations??
Cheers

Are you going to be riding behind cable all the time or behind boat/pwc, too?
If you're riding boat or ski id suggest getting the feel of the wake.. boardslides..re-entry ollies..frontboards.. just mess around on the lip.. do that a couple times and carve out and practice ollies in the flats and surface spins to get the feel of riding switch and passing the handle.. once you get the feel of the board start trying backside shuvs.. there's a lot of tips in the "trick tips" section for you. |

You know the one where you start on the dock with your board upside down and your feet under it, then jump and half flip the board. Don't know what you guys are calling them if there's another name... I want to learn these to take some strain off my shoulder as I can hold on with both hands at the take off.
I'll mostly be riding a cable over here in the UK. There is a boat place nearby which I might try out soon. I've been getting comfortable riding switch and tried a few ollies, but it seems totally different from a skateboard. Hopefully it won't take too long to get these down.
For a bs shuv-it is it better to hand the toes off the edge of the board to get more scoop? Anyway i'll go out and have a play over the weekend |

i say keep workin on ollies and lipslides...basically what everyone else says. i got one of my best friends into skating last summer and i took him ridin this week and told him hed land his first shuvit. and sure enough on his first run of the trip he threw one after probly 25 tries.
so dont get discouraged at your frustration and keep at it. |
